What are the CELPE-BRAS certification levels?
CELPE-BRAS is a single exam that certifies four proficiency levels: Intermediário, Intermediário Superior, Avançado, and Avançado Superior. All candidates take the same test, and the level awarded is determined by combined performance on the written part and the oral interaction. Candidates whose performance falls below Intermediário do not receive a certificate. Universities, professional bodies, employers, and public authorities may request CELPE-BRAS evidence, but the required level depends on the institution and purpose, so confirm the exact requirement with the organization receiving the certificate. The quiz on this page is an unofficial self-assessment with fifteen questions on reading, grammar, and cultural knowledge. It is not an INEP instrument, it does not assess writing or speaking the way the exam does, and its result is a study estimate rather than an official level.
